What's Blooming in My Garden: Late May

My garden has been blooming like crazy. I get excited checking to see what’s blooming next. Having a DSLR camera gives me a good reason to be out taking pictures every time I see a new bloom opening up.

My goal to have something blooming throughout the season is meeting my expectations. Having an ever blooming perennial garden takes work though. Mike and I were talking about the cleanup that needs to be done before we lay down some mulch and list was pretty long. Trim the lilac, trim the azalea, deadhead the iris, trim the bleeding heart, trim the rose, deadhead the columbine, trim the yellowing tulip, daffodil and hyacinth growth.

Ok, it seems like a lot but it’s really not. Plus I love being out in the yard and keeping all my plants looking neat and tidy.

Carnival Rose
Mike gave me this mini Carnival Rose last year. It’s one of the ones you buy in a tiny pot from the grocery store. I immediately had to look it up and see if I could plant in the garden. It came back strong this year with around 9 buds. I feel triumphant I got it to grow and bloom so well!

Siberian Iris
Siberian Iris that came from my Mom’s garden.

A rose that was here when we moved in. I have a long history with this guy but I’ll save that for a different blog post.

Pansy- Viola
The pansies and violas I planted at the beginning of spring. The look so full and colorful right now!
