Crochet Striped Earflap Hat Pattern 0-3 Month

Our friend’s had a little boy in September and of course I had to make them a hat (what else would I give a new baby?) Mike wanted me to make a Browns hat and I was short on time so I decided to make a Browns colored hat instead of a football helmet hat. I made it in a 0-3 month size so hopefully it will fit him most of the winter.

I really like the versatility of this pattern and I think it would look really cute with lots of different color combinations or maybe an added flower to turn it into a girl hat.

H hook
Worsted weight yarn in brown, orange and white. I used Loops and Threads Impeccable
Tapestry needle

Join in back and SC around entire hat, putting 2 SC at the base of each side of the earflap. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Braids
Cut 6 strands of brown yarn 24 inches long. Pull through the bottom of the earflap with a crochet hook. Tie an knot. Braid and tie another knot at the end. Repeat for the other side. I like to leave the bottom know loose until I braid both sides to make it easier to keep them even. Cut off any excess.
