Crochet Toddler Monster Hat Pattern

My friend’s son just turned one. Of course I had to crochet him a cute little hat for his birthday. I saw a picture of my cousin wearing an adorable crocheted monster hat on Facebook the other day and I had been thinking about it ever since. When I saw my friend’s son dressed up as a character from Monster Inc for Halloween I knew I had to make a little monster hat.

I always check out patterns on Ravelry first but there was nothing like what I had in mind so I came up with my own design. I looked at a million other hats on Pinterest too for inspiration. I only used yarn I already had in my stash so that is what shaped the color scheme. I think this will be on the list to make for baby Lincoln one day. Right now he has plenty of hats so I will save it for a future project for him 🙂

Materials:
H hook
J hook (for mouth)

I actually got this hat to fit onto my head form so you can see how nice the spikes stick up.
