January is always a good month to start fresh and reflect on the year ahead. 2017 has flown by and we have had so much going on. I started up the blog again after a long two year break. I still have been getting a steady stream of traffic from Pinterest on my crochet patterns.
Since I’m now on the topic of this blog it has been a lot of work to bring it back to life. I am considering writing a post talking about what it took to get it up and running again to a more professional level. You see, I have a dream that this blog could become my full time job. I used to blog just for fun and I made a few dollars but there wasn’t any real income. I would love to make my own hours and be more available for Lincoln.
This year I am focusing on nurturing this blog and finding my way writing about topics my readers want to read while also earning some income from it. I’ve spent hours reading about monetizing a blog but now I need to focus on my content and finding a groove that is sustainable to find topics and write posts.
So for me this year I will start by focusing on trying out content. I know I want to write about holiday decorating and DIY home decor projects. I created several Christmas posts with this focus. Mike and I are also working on furniture refinishing so I have some upcoming posts that will show the projects we have been working on.
We have plans to do some remodeling in our master bedroom and bathroom so I will be sharing those projects when we start them.
I’m throwing around some other topics I have been passionate about. This past year I have been on a health journey. I went gluten free and worked to reduce toxic chemicals in our house by using more natural alternatives and essential oils. Mainly I would focus on having a healthier home. This is a topic that I love to share with family and friends so it would be easy to share on the blog.
Wishing you a wonderful 2018 (and beyond!)
