Spring is almost here and I can’t wait. It’s always been my favorite time of year because of all the beautiful spring flowers that pop up and signify that winter is over. Crocus, daffodil, hyacinth and tulips just make me feel cheerful. I finally got to create a rustic farmhouse Spring mantel with lots of color to give me an end of winter glow. Now if the weather would only catch up with my mantel it would really start feeling like Spring around here.
I went a bit crazy on all the colorful faux flowers. I created this cute Hello Spring printable and it kind of set the tone for all the colors. I added a couple of new greens and the used some in my tupperware storage full of flowers to mix in. Hobby Lobby and JOANN are my go to sources for faux flowers and greenery. I just keep my eye out and wait for a sale to stock up.
I’ve been admiring all my vintage blue glass lately which has been up in our guest room since we moved in. I thought it would look really fresh with all the floral so I brought it down to be able to admire it.
The giant mason jar on the bottom belonged to my late grandma. She used to have it filled with vintage buttons. I just love it so much, I’m glad it’s back on the fireplace. I had moved it into the craft room at Christmas time. I have it stuffed with boxwood balls to hide the stems of the flowers I stuck in it.
I got these little bunnies at the thrift store with the intention of painting them white. The whole set was under $2. I was super thrilled to find them since it’s not always easy to find what you are looking for at the thrift store on the first try. I painted them with regular ole latex paint. I used a sample of white from when we were testing trim colors and a small angled brush. They took four coats of white to cover up the brown but it went really quickly. Now they look so sweet and not overly Eastery (is that a word?) but add just a touch of Easter. I can easily pull them off after Easter but I will probably keep them up there until I am ready to switch out the mantel decor.
Back to my cute little Spring print. I had fun creating this. I’ve been loving this really inexpensive art that I can change out with the season but doesn’t cost me more than paper and printer ink. I found this black frame in our basement that I don’t remember buying but it’s really awesome because it’s 8 ½ x 11 size so I didn’t have to cut down the print even though I designed it to fit in an 8×10 frame. It’s such a great addition to my rustic farmhouse spring mantel.
